Industry Day/Review Day - Year 11 Industry Day/Review Day – Friday, 12 February 2010

As a school we are constantly adapting the curriculum to meet the needs of the pupils and to increase their opportunities and options in the work place.  In line with this philosophy we have enhanced the Parents’ Evening and are giving the pupils a further opportunity to focus on opening up career pathways. To facilitate this we have given a questionnaire to the pupils asking them to choose their preferred careers.

Various providers have agreed to come into school on a voluntary basis to present the different aspects of their particular field. Our hope is that this will be an informative and motivating event for pupils and that it will give them a clearer vision of the possibilities that lie ahead. This is a second opportunity for your son to shape and refine his career aims and we believe this will improve his exam results by giving him the necessary motivation and focus.

The Industry Day is taking place on Friday, 12 February (8.50am – 12.15pm)  and will comprise of various workshops in which an expert will outline the necessary skills, qualifications and personal qualities required to be successful in that career.  Pupils have picked three possible career paths which they will investigate and explore on that day. We hope that as parents you will embrace this opportunity and come to school with your son to support him.

The Review Day will take place after Industry Day (12.15pm – 4.30pm). You will be given opportunities to see your son’s subject teachers and discuss his progress.  This event is in place of a Parents’ Evening so attendance is of the upmost importance.

Review Day - Year 9R and Year 8B and A Bands Review Morning – Monday, 22nd February (9.20am -11.45)

Your son has carried out various assessments since September and so it is important at this stage of the year to review his progress across the subjects he is studying.  With this in mind we have organised a review morning on Monday, 22nd February where you will have opportunities to see your son’s form tutor and discuss his progress.  This event is in place of a Parents’ Evening so attendance is of the upmost importance.

Although teachers will be available in the Hall from 9.20am – 4.30pm it is hoped that you will attend in the morning by appointment.
