This year has seen the development of a collaborative team from West Derby and Cardinal Heenan Sixth Forms. With many of the lads already playing on a Sunday at Sefton RFU, the team has come together really well overcoming the two teams that they have played. In November, the boys played and beat St Margaret’s High School 15-0 and in February played and beat St Edwards High School 14-19. The success has come through the lad’s hard work and dedication to training and the team.
The creation of this team is taking the development of rugby in the area to a new level, offering a more challenging standard of competition whilst also allowing pupils joining the sixth form to access a sport they might not have played before.
With some very strong age groups coming up through both schools and the entry to a league structure next season, the collaborative team looks set to go from strength to strength.
