Cardinal Heenan Catholic Sports College is a larger than average all boys high school set in the West Derby suburb of Liverpool. It has expanded over the years and now caters for around 1500 students. We have a long tradition of upholding gospel values and also setting high academic standards, as can be seen from the consistently improving public examination results. The award of Specialist Sports College status in 2001 and its subsequent renewal in 2006, has strengthened the strong tradition of sport, which we believe to be extremely important in enriching the life of the school and in complementing students’ performance in more academic pursuits.
We are proud that at Cardinal Heenan the current ethos is that of a 'learning school' where students, staff and indeed all those involved with the institution engage in a positive learning experience. Education is about creating opportunities for our young people to do the best they can with their lives. To develop lively and inquiring minds in the search for what is good and true. With the precept of ‘Every Child Matters’ firmly in our sights, we aim to send out our young people well-prepared to face the economic, personal and spiritual challenges of the modern world.
Whilst great emphasis is placed on maintaining firm, but fair discipline, visitors frequently remark on the friendly atmosphere and welcome from both staff and pupils alike. Cardinal Heenan is a real family and will suit those who are looking for traditional values, high standards and a caring community.
We trust that from this part of the website you will be able to see school life reflected in these pages.
