Bag Packing for Owen
Year 9 Students Helped to Raise Money for the Owen McVeigh Foundation
On Friday 15th December, students from both Years 8 and 12 were at Sainsbury's stores in Woolton and at Rice Lane bag packing for the Owen McVeigh Foundation. This Foundation has been set up in memory of Owen McVeigh, a former pupil of Cardinal Heenan Catholic High School, who was only 11 years old when he passed away after a short diagnosis with leukaemia. The purpose of the charity is to raise funds to help and enrich the lives of children suffering from cancer, and their families, in the Merseyside area. Between the two stores on the days the students helped with the bag packing, the foundation managed to raise £2000. The weekend total for the foundation was close to £5, 500.
